A sofa refresh does not require replacing furniture. One tactile throw and two or three carefully chosen pillow covers can change the color balance, comfort, and personality of the entire seating area.

Choose the base layer

Drape a chenille throw over the back, seat, or one arm of the sofa. A relaxed fold feels more natural than a perfectly symmetrical arrangement and helps protect high-use areas.

Add one focal pillow

Choose one detailed embroidered cover as the visual anchor. Floral motifs soften a room, while animal designs introduce character and work especially well in informal living spaces.

Support with quieter pieces

Use one or two solid or lightly textured covers to balance the focal motif. Repeat a color from the embroidery rather than introducing a completely separate palette.

Adjust for the season

In warmer months, keep the throw lightly folded and use brighter or botanical accents. In cooler months, increase visible texture and choose deeper supporting tones.

Photograph the room before buying more

A quick phone photo makes balance easier to judge. If one side looks visually heavy, move the lumbar pillow or shift the throw before adding another product.
